Fire destroys and creates so the focus of this project was to create an object out of something fire has destroyed. Based on the legend of the phenix the research led to wooden-ash. As this material has been used in various fields of history it turned out to have some special qualities such as being sound absorbing and isolating. Based on the properties of the material the final outcome of this project where tiles. The product, an 3-component tile, could be produced everywhere in the world. Furthermore different kinds of wood are responsible for unique shades in each tile. Each piece is an unique creation.

This project won the TALENTE 2018 price - an international competition of young craftsmen in design and technology -  in the category „materials and technique“.
